Have you been looking for a way to get involved with Cook Forest State Park? Please consider joining us for the day to help maintain the park through various work projects. Jobs may include trail maintenance, litter pickup, painting, wood stacking, etc. Free camping Friday & Saturday nights will be available for volunteers, with prior notice received by 10/6. If you are planning to join us for the day, please contact the Park Office (814)744-8407 at least two weeks in advance so that we can have a volunteer project lined up for you. Lunch provided! Drip Coffeehouse & Kitchen is sponsoring a Fitness in the Park event (across from Drip)! On August 30th and September 13, we will have classes taught by Morgan Cook (Thrush), Teresa Stout, Mary Ann Powell, Leigh Reitz, and Amy Young! No sign up necessary, just show up with mats, weights, towel, water & energy! Extra weights and mats will be provided if needed. Hope to see you there! |

Join Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club mycologists & identifiers at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom for a moderate hike through the Forest Cathedral at night. We will use 365nm UV flashlights to light up the trail and search for fungi that glow in response to ultraviolet light. Expect to walk 1-2 miles, but participants can shorten the distance as needed. Participants should bring a headlamp, ideally with a red light, and wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own UV flashlight. Leaders will provide protective eyewear. |

Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns. Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire Tower. (1.5 hrs) |

Please meet the Friends of Cook Forest at the Park Office as we clean litter off of Forest Road from Rt. 36 to the Sawmill Theater. Depending on attendance we could clean other roads in the park as well. All supplies will be provided, please dress for the weather. |

Held monthly at 5 PM, these two-hour hikes offer a chance to connect with nature, build friendships, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of Cook Forest. Rain or shine—friendly dogs welcome!

Join the Friends of Cook Forest for a Walk in Penn’s Woods hike. We’ll celebrate the beauty of Pennsylvania’s forests by walking a loop on the Camp and Corduroy Trails. Please meet at the Nuthole Cabin at the entrance to Ridge Camp. People & pet friendly leashed pets welcome. (1.5hrs)
