    Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire   Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns.  Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire Tower.

    Join the Friends of Cook Forest at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom where we’ll shuttle to hike on a loop of the Old Logging Road and the Rhododendron Trails. We’ll discuss characteristics of Old Growth Forest and tree identification as we walk through this ancient forest. People friendly leashed pets welcome!

  • Snorkling The Clarion

    River Cabin Playground

    Please bring your mask & snorkels to the River Cabin playground to search the river for aquatic insects and fish. This is a great opportunity to see fish and bugs up close and undisturbed in their natural habitat. It’s a totally different world down there. Children must be with a participating adult. Be prepared to car pool to other areas along the river.

  • Discovering Unique Attributes Of Our Local Creeks

    “Discovering Unique Attributes of Our Local Creeks.” Leave promptly at the Park Office to carpool potentially dozens of miles along the Clarion and Allegheny River watersheds. Long, difficult hikes will be taken through often steep, muddy, weedy off-trail terrain into some of these hard to reach places. Things to possibly see along the way include huge conglomerate boulders, scenic vistas, rock outcrops and seldom seen herps. Participants must be in excellent physical shape to attempt this program. Bring good hiking boots, walking stick, lunch and plenty of water.

    Aug.16,2026 https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/womens-hiking-series Come Nurture your Mental and Physical health during a Sunday evening hike. We will meet at the Ridge Camp Pavilion, in Cook Forest State Park. (Across from the entrance to the Firepower on Rt. 36) Moderate Level Hiking with some rough terrain and a few hills (Not a paved level path). Approximately 2 hours long. Open to all women ages 14 and up. Dogs on a leash. Rain or Shine! Weather permitting and pending interest of the group, we will branch off into two groups. One group will venture onto a more rigorous path while the other group will continue on a path to relax and enjoy being in nature.
