    Cook Forest State Park

    June 14,2026 https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/womens-hiking-series Come Nurture your Mental and Physical health during a Sunday evening hike. We will meet at the Ridge Camp Pavilion, in Cook Forest State Park. (Across from the entrance to the Firepower on Rt. 36) Moderate Level Hiking with some rough terrain and a few hills (Not a paved level path). Approximately 2 hours long. Open to all women ages 14 and up. Dogs on a leash. Rain or Shine! Weather permitting and pending interest of the group, we will branch off into two groups. One group will venture onto a more rigorous path while the other group will continue on a path to relax and enjoy being in nature.     Gravel Lick Mill-Creek

    ‘Clarion River Boating Program: Gravel Lick-Mill Creek’ Please join us for an interpretive guided float down the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River. Wildlife and lumber history abound along this secluded stretch of the river. Fishing is excellent. Help us document wood duck nesting success, river otter sign, and bald eagle nests while we kayak through the Steel Trap. This is a true wilderness boating experience. No sign of human occupation until we get near the end. Only experienced boaters permitted. Please meet at the Park Office where we will drive to the starting point. Folks must pre- register by 6/22 by contacting the Park Office at (814)744-8407. Registration limited to 10 boats. Cost is $50/boat payable by cash, check or money order made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All boats, gear, and lunch provided. Prior Cook Forest kayak training participants receive a 50% discount. Register early, available spots go fast. See you on the river!

    Log Cabin Inn Enviromental Learning Classroom

    Saturday, July 4 at 300pm - ‘A Walk Through the Forest Cathedral’ Please meet at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom for an interpretive hike into the Forest Cathedral, a registered National Natural Landmark. Learn how to identify old growth forest characteristics, and observe different types of environmental disturbance that are an integral part of old growth forest ecosystems. (2 hrs)

  • DUATHLON 5K

    Cook Forest State Park

    Our annual fundraising race for Western PA CARES for Kids offers 2 different timed events, a community walk, and fun for the whole family! Cash prizes for race winners Free picnic lunch for all racers and spectators Great raffles including gift cards and tickets to theme parks and sporting events Our race, held in the beautiful Cook Forest State Park, will be held July 19, 2025 at Shelter 2. The Duathlon consists of a 3.1 mile run then a 12 mile bike ride and ends with another 2 mile run. Many participate in this event as teams of 2 or 3, but this event can also be done solo. The 5K is a 3.1 mile race on a mix of trails and paved roads in Cook Forest. These events are timed with the exception of the community walk which is a two mile walk. All those who are pre-registered by June 16th will receive a free t-shirt. There is also a free picnic lunch provided to all racers and spectators following the event.
