  • Clarion River Boating Program

    Gravel Lick Mill-Creek

    ‘Clarion River Boating Program: Gravel Lick-Mill Creek’ Please join us for an interpretive guided float down the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River. Wildlife and lumber history abound along this secluded stretch of the river. Fishing is excellent. Help us document wood duck nesting success, river otter sign, and bald eagle nests while we kayak through the Steel Trap. This is a true wilderness boating experience. No sign of human occupation until we get near the end. Only experienced boaters permitted. Please meet at the Park Office where we will drive to the starting point. Folks must pre- register by 6/22 by contacting the Park Office at (814)744-8407. Registration limited to 10 boats. Cost is $50/boat payable by cash, check or money order made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All boats, gear, and lunch provided. Prior Cook Forest kayak training participants receive a 50% discount. Register early, available spots go fast. See you on the river!

The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is excited to announce we’re heading to the concourse at Peoples Natural Gas Field for the Altoona Curve game on Sunday, June 28—and it’s shaping up to be a perfectly sunny Family Day at the ballpark! Bring your crew out for a day that’s sure to be a home run: enjoy the game, explore our traveling exhibits on the concourse, and hang out with your Weather Center friends—all while cheering on the Curve. And the forecast? A cool front of savings! Score Level 100 tickets for just $12 each. Game time is 1:00 p.m. as the Altoona Curve host the Reading Fightin’ Phils.     Saturday, July 4 at 300pm - ‘A Walk Through the Forest Cathedral’ Please meet at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom for an interpretive hike into the Forest Cathedral, a registered National Natural Landmark. Learn how to identify old growth forest characteristics, and observe different types of environmental disturbance that are an integral part of old growth forest ecosystems. (2 hrs)

    Cook Forest State Park

    July 12,2026 https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/womens-hiking-series Come Nurture your Mental and Physical health during a Sunday evening hike. We will meet at the Ridge Camp Pavilion, in Cook Forest State Park. (Across from the entrance to the Firepower on Rt. 36) Moderate Level Hiking with some rough terrain and a few hills (Not a paved level path). Approximately 2 hours long. Open to all women ages 14 and up. Dogs on a leash. Rain or Shine! Weather permitting and pending interest of the group, we will branch off into two groups. One group will venture onto a more rigorous path while the other group will continue on a path to relax and enjoy being in nature. Designed to spark conversation and connect people with the organizations shaping our region, Eggs & Issues is one of the Chamber’s most engaging quarterly networking events. Open to everyone — including business owners, professionals, community leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and residents — the morning offers a unique opportunity to build connections, gain valuable insight, and stay informed on the resources and initiatives driving growth across our communities. This event’s featured presenters are the PennWest Clarion Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the North Central Planning & Development Commission (NCPDC). These two organizations play a major role behind the scenes in business support, economic development, entrepreneurship, workforce initiatives, funding opportunities, and long-term community growth throughout the region.
