Game Lands Maintenance Worker

A Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 with the Pennsylvania Game Commission is a full-time, outdoor-focused position responsible for building, repairing, and enhancing state game lands and wildlife habitats.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  •  Repair and maintain roads, bridges, parking areas, gates, informational signs, and public shooting ranges. [1]
  • Assist with mowing, develop wildlife openings, handle herbicide work, and use chainsaws or heavy equipment for land management.
  •  Help carry out prescribed burns, manage snow removal, and assist wildlife officers with tasks like handling road-killed animals. 
  •  Maintain boundary lines, post signs, and help survey land tracts. 
Work Schedule
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with a 30-minute lunch). Alternate work schedules (AWS) may be available.
  • Telework: Not an option for this role. 
Qualifications & Requirements
  •  One year of laboring experience with construction tools/equipment, one year of farming experience with agricultural tools/equipment, one year of construction equipment operation, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 
  •  Requires an active PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license at hire, and you must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of employment. 
  •  Subject to the Child Protective Services Law, meaning a conditional offer requires PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances. 
Salary & Benefits
  • Typically ranges from about $39,287 to $57,772 per year (new commonwealth hires usually start at the minimum).
