SUMMARY:We Remember
DESCRIPTION:Brookville Community to Ring Bells in Remembrance of September 11\, 2001 \nOn September 11th\, bells throughout the Brookville community will ring in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11\, 2001\, and in honor of the first responders\, military personnel\, volunteers\, and countless others who answered the call to help in the days\, weeks\, months\, and years that followed. \nSeptember 11\, 2001 changed our nation forever. In a matter of hours\, thousands of lives were lost\, families were changed forever\, and an entire country was left grieving. But in the midst of that heartbreak\, we also witnessed extraordinary courage\, compassion\, and a willingness to stand beside one another. \nTwenty-five years later\, we remember. \nThis Friday\, on September 11th\, bells throughout our community will mark six moments from that morning. Each bell will ring for one minute\, giving us a chance to stop what we’re doing\, remember those who were lost\, and honor the many people whose lives were forever connected to that day. \n\n8:46 AM — Flight 11 strikes the North Tower\n9:03 AM — Flight 175 strikes the South Tower\n9:37 AM — Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon\n9:59 AM — The South Tower collapses\n10:03 AM — Flight 93 crashes in Somerset County\, Pennsylvania\n10:28 AM — The North Tower collapses\n\nThe Jefferson County Courthouse bells will ring at 8:46 AM and 10:28 AM. The Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services will also make an announcement over county frequencies at both of those times. \nFor one morning\, the sound of bells will carry through Brookville as a simple reminder that we remember the lives that were taken\, we remember the courage that followed\, and we remember how deeply one day changed our country. \nIf your church has a bell to ring\, please join us by ringing your bell for one minute at each of the six times. \nMembers of the community are encouraged to pause when they hear the bells and take a moment to remember. \n  \nFor more information on The September 11 Ringing of the Bells remembrance\, contact Pastor Joe Short of Brookville First Methodist Church.
