Bites for Books

Are you “hungry” for new ways to support the library? We can help with that. The Rebecca M Arthurs Memorial Library and Summerville Public Library will once again be holding our “Bites for Books” take out Dinner Fundraiser. Meals are provided by Shannon’s Catering and include your choice of either include your choice of either a stuffed chicken meal or lasagna. Dinners include salad, bread and a dessert. Tickets are only $10 each. You can pick up your meals at the RMAML from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on September 23rd. You can purchase your tickets from any of our board members, or at either the RMAML or the Summerville Public Library. The last day to purchase your tickets is September 15th.

Fire Tower/Seneca Point Historical Tour

Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire   Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns.  Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire  Tower.

Women’s Hike Series

Join the Friends of Cook Forest for a Women’s Hike Series—an uplifting, women-only hiking experience open to ages 14 and up. Held monthly at 5 PM, these two-hour hikes offer a chance to connect with nature, build friendships, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of Cook Forest. Rain or shine—friendly dogs welcome!

Election Day Soup Fundraiser

Warm up after casting your vote and support the Heritage House Senior Center! Stop by on Tuesday, November 4th for a hearty quart of soup — choose from Chicken Noodle or Vegetable Beef — prepared by Shannon’s Catering. Quarts are $10 each and available starting at 8:00 AM until sold out. Pre-orders are encouraged and can be picked up from 8:00–11:30 AM. Pre-order by October 28 by calling (814) 849-3391. Proceeds help Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging continue its mission of providing meals, activities, and vital support services that keep our older adults connected, healthy, and engaged in in our community. The pre-Christmas shopping extravaganza has diverse array of items that are sure to please every taste whether you are looking for yourself or someone on your list. Brochures with the tour map are available at all participating vendors and restaurants as well as the PA Great Outdoors Visitor Center and on this website once available.
