Enjoy a cozy afternoon of stories and sweets at Honey’s Cakes during the new Books & Bakes series! Local author Kelly Stormer will be signing copies of her debut novel, The Way Home—a heartfelt story of a soldier haunted by war and the girl who never stopped believing. In celebration, Honey’s Cakes will be featuring lemon bars and sweet tea, inspired by the book itself. This monthly series is designed to connect the community with local authors in an inviting setting filled with good books and delicious treats. Drip Coffeehouse & Kitchen is sponsoring a Fitness in the Park event (across from Drip)! On August 30th and September 13, we will have classes taught by Morgan Cook (Thrush), Teresa Stout, Mary Ann Powell, Leigh Reitz, and Amy Young! No sign up necessary, just show up with mats, weights, towel, water & energy! Extra weights and mats will be provided if needed. Hope to see you there!

Wilson's Woodshed is hosting their monthly Paint and Sip!  Enjoy an evening of painting and wine while creating your own artwork! This Paint & Sip we will be painting a Halloween Sitter! Gather your friends and come for a relaxing night of painting and crafting! Whether you are an experienced painter or beginner, this event is fun for all! Cost: $50 (includes wooden sitter, painting supplies, 2 glasses of wine, and light refreshments) We will begin promptly at 6pm. Space is limited. Please RSVP by sending a DM or stop in at the store. If you sign up and are unable to attend, please let us know so we know how many pieces to have available and someone else can attend.

Bites for Books

Are you “hungry” for new ways to support the library? We can help with that. The Rebecca M Arthurs Memorial Library and Summerville Public Library will once again be holding our “Bites for Books” take out Dinner Fundraiser. Meals are provided by Shannon’s Catering and include your choice of either include your choice of either a stuffed chicken meal or lasagna. Dinners include salad, bread and a dessert. Tickets are only $10 each. You can pick up your meals at the RMAML from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on September 23rd. You can purchase your tickets from any of our board members, or at either the RMAML or the Summerville Public Library. The last day to purchase your tickets is September 15th.

Fire Tower/Seneca Point Historical Tour

Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire   Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns.  Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire  Tower.
