Join Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club mycologists & identifiers at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom for a moderate hike through the Forest Cathedral at night. We will use 365nm UV flashlights to light up the trail and search for fungi that glow in response to ultraviolet light. Expect to walk 1-2 miles, but participants can shorten the distance as needed. Participants should bring a headlamp, ideally with a red light, and wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own UV flashlight. Leaders will provide protective eyewear.
Are you “hungry” for new ways to support the library? We can help with that. The Rebecca M Arthurs Memorial Library and Summerville Public Library will once again be holding our “Bites for Books” take out Dinner Fundraiser. Meals are provided by Shannon’s Catering and include your choice of either include your choice of either a stuffed chicken meal or lasagna. Dinners include salad, bread and a dessert. Tickets are only $10 each. You can pick up your meals at the RMAML from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on September 23rd. You can purchase your tickets from any of our board members, or at either the RMAML or the Summerville Public Library. The last day to purchase your tickets is September 15th.
Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns. Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire Tower. (1.5 hrs)
