Our Legacy
The Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce office, located at 100 Franklin Avenue, commands an impressive view of Historic Main Street. The location is rich in history, tied to Samuel Stewart Henderson, a member of one of Brookville’s pioneer families. Starting his career as a druggist, Henderson later expanded into timber production and coal exploration. His Queen Anne-style home, originally built in 1894, has undergone several additions over the years, standing as a testament to the area’s storied past.
The Chamber itself holds a significant place in Brookville’s history. Its roots trace back to November 1925, when the Brookville Business Men’s Association, established in 1923, merged with the Chamber of Commerce to form the Brookville Chamber of Commerce. From its inception, the Chamber has focused on vital community initiatives, including industrial development, civic enhancements, park and street improvements, boosting tourism, and promoting Brookville.
Today, the Chamber remains a cornerstone of the community, continuing to advance many of these same goals. Empowered by its dedicated membership, the Chamber fosters collaboration and communication, achieving remarkable progress for the Brookville area.
