The Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce office, located at 237 Main Street, is proudly housed in the historic Regis McCabe Building, part of the iconic Marlin Opera House Block in the heart of Historic Downtown Brookville. Rich in history, this landmark has served Brookville for well over a century and continues to stand as one of Main Street’s most recognizable commercial buildings.
Following the great downtown fire of 1883, Colonel Silas J. Marlin constructed the Marlin Opera House Block, creating an architectural centerpiece that combined retail storefronts with the grand Marlin Opera House above. While the opera house welcomed audiences from 1886 into the early twentieth century, the storefronts below have remained an important part of Brookville’s business community for generations.
Our storefront has been home to several well-known Brookville businesses through the years, including Stewart’s Clothing, Randy’s Electronics, and Piper’s Place. Today, the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to continue that legacy by welcoming residents, visitors, and businesses through the doors of this historic Main Street storefront.
The Chamber itself holds a significant place in Brookville’s history. Its roots trace back to November 1925, when the Brookville Business Men’s Association, established in 1923, merged with the Chamber of Commerce to form the Brookville Chamber of Commerce.
For more than 100 years, the Chamber has been dedicated to supporting local businesses and strengthening the Brookville area through leadership, collaboration, and community pride. While the ways we serve have evolved over the decades, our purpose remains the same, to help businesses succeed and showcase everything that makes Brookville a great place to live, work, shop, dine, and visit.
Today, the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce serves as a resource, advocate, and partner for businesses of all sizes. We promote our members through marketing and social media, celebrate milestones with ribbon cuttings and grand openings, provide networking and educational opportunities, welcome visitors to the community, and organize signature events that bring people to Brookville and support our local economy.
From the Brookville BBQ Bash and Brookville Tasting Tour to seasonal promotions, community celebrations, and our downtown gift shop featuring locally inspired products and area artisans, the Chamber is committed to creating opportunities that benefit both our members and the community as a whole. Every initiative is driven by a simple goal: helping Brookville thrive.
As we begin our next chapter from our historic Main Street home, we remain committed to preserving Brookville’s heritage while embracing new ideas, supporting local businesses, and building a vibrant future for generations to come.
The mission of the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce is to stimulate the economic climate of the area, promote membership businesses and assist with civic activities which enhance the quality of life of our community.
The Board of Directors plays a critical role in guiding the strategic vision and overseeing the effective governance of the organization. Comprising dedicated volunteers representing a diverse cross-section of our business community, the Board ensures that the Chamber’s activities align with its mission of supporting local businesses, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life in Brookville and the surrounding region.
