Game Lands Maintenance Worker
A Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 with the Pennsylvania Game Commission is a full-time, outdoor-focused position responsible for building, repairing, and enhancing state game lands and wildlife habitats.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain roads, bridges, parking areas, gates, informational signs, and public shooting ranges. [1]
- Assist with mowing, develop wildlife openings, handle herbicide work, and use chainsaws or heavy equipment for land management.
- Help carry out prescribed burns, manage snow removal, and assist wildlife officers with tasks like handling road-killed animals.
- Maintain boundary lines, post signs, and help survey land tracts.
Work Schedule
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with a 30-minute lunch). Alternate work schedules (AWS) may be available.
- Telework: Not an option for this role.
Qualifications & Requirements
- One year of laboring experience with construction tools/equipment, one year of farming experience with agricultural tools/equipment, one year of construction equipment operation, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Requires an active PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license at hire, and you must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of employment.
- Subject to the Child Protective Services Law, meaning a conditional offer requires PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances.
Salary & Benefits
- Typically ranges from about $39,287 to $57,772 per year (new commonwealth hires usually start at the minimum).
