Tour de Brookville
The second annual Tour de Brookville fall bicycle classic will be held Sat., Oct. 14 beginning at 9 am at Brookville’s Depot St. trailhead across from Giant Eagle off Route 36 South.
The tour, held during the peak of fall foliage season, will follow the same 35-mile route as last year’s inaugural event, with plenty of breaks planned. A sag wagon will follow and assist riders throughout the tour with energy bars, drinks and other supports.
Riders will pedal the Depot St. Trail, connect to the Redbank Trail and travel 7.5 miles to the Summerville trailhead. The tour then goes on the road using a combination of flat terrain, rolling hills, gentle climbs and exhilarating descents, visiting the areas of Mount Pleasant, Ohl, Stanton, Ramseytown and Belgiumtown before returning to Brookville at the trailhead. Those choosing not to ride the roads or do hills can stay on the Redbank Trail and head further west toward Heathville, if they choose, before heading back. All riders should be back to Brookville by noon.
There will be a post-ride celebration luncheon in downtown Brookville around noon or shortly after.
There is no cost or pre-registration necessary, however tax-deductible contributions to help toward future trail maintenance will be accepted, with checks made out to the Redbank Valley Trails Association, and collected during the luncheon.
For more information, email John Pozza at email@example.com. Otherwise, just show up at the Brookville trailhead, rain or shine, with your bike and helmet on Sat. Oct. 14 at 9 am.
