Our mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret historically significant and mechanically interesting early stationary internal combustion engines for the education and enjoyment of everyone.


Coolspring Power Museum presents an illuminating history of the evolution of internal combustion engine technology that put an end to the steam powered era.  The museum’s collection includes over 275 stationary engines housed in more than 20 display buildings.

Stationary gas hit and miss engines, throttle governed engines, flame ignition engines, hot tube ignition engines, and hot air engines are all among the permanent exhibits at the Coolspring Power Museum in Coolspring, Pennsylvania.  Engines in the museum’s collection range in size from fractional horsepower up to 600 horsepower.  Please visit our Exhibits page which includes a number of Virtual Tours of the exhibits in the museum’s collection.

Brookville Y CARES for kids benefiting Western PA CARES for Kids Child Advocacy Center will be holding it’s 9th annual duathlon, 5k race and community walk on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at Cook Forest State Park, shelter 2.  Pre-registration and waiver forms will be available online at www.carescac.org and at the Brookville YMCA at the beginning of May.  The Pre-registration deadline is June 26th.  An awards ceremony and free lunch will follow the race.  All proceeds help us provide a child friendly coordinated response to child abuse.  For more information visit our website at www.carescac.org or call (814) 849-1904.

The extraordinary talent of many artists from across the region will be on display in the show area. Prizes awarded in many categories of this traditional art form that is reaching new heights. Vote for the “People’s Choice” Award. Vendors and artists will demonstrate and display their work.

Saturday, July 15 at 8:30am – ‘Clarion River Canoe & Kayak Program: Arroyo Bridge-Halton’
Cook Forest State Park will be conducting an interpretive historical canoe & kayak program on the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River from Arroyo Bridge to Halton for experienced canoeists & kayakers only.  This section of river is rich in local history, and also contains the most challenging set of rapids on the river, “THE  X,Y,Z”.  We will be passing remnants of the Arroyo Tannery and have lunch along the abandoned Clarion River Railway near the Lilly Pond.  Fishing is excellent here so don’t forget your poles!  We will meet promptly at the Park Office and car-pool to the starting point up-river.  Remember to bring protective footwear, raingear, and change of clothes.  Lunch provided to those who register by 7/11.  Cost is $50/boat payable at the starting point, by check or money order made out to the ‘Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’.  Prior kayak training participants receive a 50% discount.  Participants must pre-register prior to the trip at the Park  Office by calling (814)744-8407.  Space is limited, so please reserve early.  (8 hrs)

History Day At Coolspring Power Museum

History Day at Coolspring Power Museum

July 15, 2017

 Coolspring Power Museum is hosting “History Day” from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There will be volunteers throughout the museum buildings and grounds to give presentations on the history of many engines in the museum along with the history of the museum itself. They will explain when and where the engines were built and what they were used for. A brief description will be given on how the engines operate and why each manufacturer made his a little different than others. Many engines will be running throughout the day, with a scheduled start-up for the larger engines. Engineers will explain how they start an engine and answer any questions you might have. History Day will give you the opportunity to have a personal tour of the museum and the freedom to do so at your own pace. Volunteers will be on hand to show you why the Coolspring Power Museum has the finest antique engine collection in the world.

The gift shop will be open all day for any souvenirs or apparel you might be interested in. Restroom facilities that are wheelchair accessible are available and there are plenty of benches throughout the grounds for taking a break. All parking is free.

Tickets for the event are $10.  Information regarding the event and tickets is available by calling the museum at 814-849-6883 or by calling Stewart McKinley at 814-379-9813 between 6 PM and 9 PM Eastern Time.  Your ticket includes presentations, tours, and lunch.
